Executive Summary
**All information contained in this blog is for educational purposes only

Project Overview: In 2011 the Monroe Township Board of Education will introduce a brand new 150,000 square foot high school which will serve as the primary high school for over 2,000 students in both Monroe Township and the town of Jamesburg.

In the fall of 2008 the Board of Education, along with the superintendent of the district, asked the Technology Department to begin the task of planning an information system for the new high school. The plan was to not only complete a powerful information system for the new school, but it was also to improve on technologies that the district currently has. Over the next three months the members of our department, Eliot Feldman, Faith Kariuki, and Janneth Campoverde will perform extensive research for the planning of this new information system.

Faculty Council Concerns for
Information System at New High School

The Faculty Council and Board of Education have expressed 10 issues that are concerns for the information system at the new high school. The following pages examine these concerns and present a solution to each problem.

1. Wireless Access is either slow and or intermittent throughout the district. Because all teachers and several other staff members will depend on wireless connectivity to perform their jobs, it is imperative that the wireless network is improved. This is a must for the new high school as well.

Solution: The new high school will have a total of 60 Enterasys Roam About RBT-4012 Access Points. This will cover the 150,000 square-foot area inside the school. Unlike the current high school, which has just 25 access points, the RBT-4012’s will be located at every 50-feet of hall-way space. The signal strength on the RBT-4012 is improved over the 3000 series, so the connection frequency will be strong and dependable.
