The Network: The school will receive its data link with a T-3 connection from the current high school, which will be called Woodcrest Middle School after the new High School is finished. For backup purposes there will be two lines running underground between the schools. One line will connect to the west wing of Woodcrest and the other to the south wing. Staff members have made it clear that the network connection should be fault tolerant.
Wireless Access: The entire school will have wireless connectivity as access points will be stationed every 100-feet throughout the school. Enterasys will be the company of choice for the access points as its power-over-ethernet and range capabilities have worked extremely well at our current schools.
Wired Access: Category-5 cabling will be used to connect classrooms and offices to the back-bone in the main server room. We will use the company Data Services, Inc. to run the cable through the ceilings and walls.
Grading & attendance: The new school will continue to use Genesis, which is currently used throughout the district.
Software: Images will include Windows XP w/SP3, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe CS3 Suite. Other software will be decided on in the near future.
Desktops, Servers & Laptops: Hewlett Packard’s Proliant servers will be used for Domain Controllers and other services such as DHCP, DNS and RDP. Gateway desktops and laptops will be used for student use.

***As you can tell in the ERD for the Inventory Management, the Dabatase will include a file for Suppliers, Products, Categories, Shipping Methods, Purchase Orders, Inventory Transactions. This Database would not be only to manage the inventory for the construction of the network for the new high school, but with this database the high school will be able to use it to manage and make orders of different categories of products, such as desks, chairs, etc.
User of this database will be able to browse purchase orders, create new purchase orders, generate different reports such as:
- Product Cost Comparison
- Product Purchase By Supplier
- Product Summary
- Product Transaction Detail
Also, the user will be able to add or delete employees, suppliers, product categories, shipping methods. A main screen where orders will made will provide links to easy access all the above mentioned tasks, the database will be user friendly.
